Frank Yeend OAM (1923 - 2014)

Frank Yeend came from Canberra and enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force in 1942. He trained as a pilot flying Dakota aircraft in Australia and New Guinea. After World War II he became an Air Traffic Controller with the Department of Civil Aviation. Later he was an Air Safety Investigator in the Air Safety Investigation Branch and spent 22 years on field investigations of aircraft accidents and Boards of Enquiry. He held various positions within the Branch, finally as the Branch Head, Assistant Secretary, Air Safety Investigation.
