Biography
Leonard Deleuil MBE (1905 - 2000)
Leonard Adolphe 'Dooley' Deleuil went to sea in 1924 as Junior Radio Operator. He joined AWA in 1925, serving in several ships of the Australian Commonwealth Line. Still with AWA, in 1937 he went to Canberra to install an aeradio station and Bellini-Tosi Direction Finding receiver. Canberra Aeradio was operating a month later with Leo as the sole operator and technician. Leo joined Darwin Aeradio in 1947 and was one of the Aeradio Operators who were the pioneers of Flight Service. Later Leo Deleuil became the Regional Flight Service Supervisor, Western Australia, until he retired in 1970.
